Also, Mauritius is a part of a tax treaties network with no less than 37 countries to prevent double taxation. There is no capital gains or inheritance tax. Also, there is no need to withhold tax on dividends, interest or royalty. It does not require any withholding tax for people outside Mauritius paying such fees. Finally, the tax rate is 15% for companies and individuals while business tax is 3% of profit maximum.
Type One and Two Global Business Licenses (GBC) are two types of business allowed to establish in Mauritius:
GBC 1 is considered a tax resident and is supposed to pay a 15% income tax. However, it can be reduced to a 3% effective rate with automatic tax deductions. It also can fully utilize the various tax treaties that Mauritius enjoys.
GBC 2 is considered a tax-free offshore business and they cannot use the tax treaties in place.
